Ladies, hold on to your uterus
John Boehner is now the speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.
According to this post on change.org, Boehner is backing agenda that supports:
“Repealing the health-reform law and denying millions of women access to birth control and prenatal care. The House is set to vote on a repeal on January 12.”
Just in time for my birthday. Yea.
“Threatening women’s abortion coverage. Boehner also scheduled a vote on a resolution proposing a dozen major changes to the new health-care law, which could include a Stupak-like ban on abortion coverage.”
“Pushing the new ‘Stupak on Steroids’ bill, which is even worse than the original Stupak ban in health reform. It effectively would ban coverage of abortion in the new health-care system and impose tax penalties on millions of American families whose private insurance plans include abortion coverage.”
“Reviving the failed, Bush-era ‘abstinence-only’ programs that censored discussion of birth control.”
Abstinence-only programs don’t work. Period.
“Cutting funding for family-planning programs that provide women access to basic health care, such as birth control and cancer screenings.”
Family planning is essential for healthy families.
I’m keeping my eye on you, dude.
